Christopher Alexander received his Architectural Degree from the University of Michigan in 1981 and began a 2 year involvement with the Arcosanti Project in central Arizona followed by a 5 year apprenticeship with Architectural Firms in the San Francisco Bay Area working primarily on Custom Residential Projects. In 1988 he returned to Northern Arizona and founded Alexander Studio. In the following 23 years, he has worked on custom homes in the Flagstaff area and private residences that are nestled on acreage in the Forests of Northern Arizona.
Christopher was raised on the high plains of eastern Wyoming at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. The western landscape has embedded itself pretty thoroughly in his psyche and he finds much of his artistic inspiration walking through the landscapes of the American West. He is inspired and constantly learning from several of the architectural styles at the turn of the 20th Century: The Craftsman Style, The Prairie Style, National Parks Architecture, Frank LLoyd Wright, Greene & Greene, Southwestern Traditional Architecture, and the Architecture of the American Southwest Indians.
